The landscape with the church was painted in the open air in Kolomenskoye in early September.
It was a sunny day off camera, but windy and cool. Branches bent under the weight of the harvest. The smell of apples ripe and already beginning to wander.
The Church of St. George the Victorious was brought to Kolomenskoye from the Arkhangelsk region. An elegant example of wooden architecture. Cupolas with aspen tiles are especially good.
